About Karsten House

Karsten House is home to Karsten & Co.

It is a quiet place where the lamps are kept low, the kettle is rarely cold, and the Departments go quietly about their work.

Behind the stories, however, is something entirely real.

Karsten & Co. was founded by Kate Karsten in Victoria, Australia, after a lifelong connection with flowers, fragrance, and the quiet rituals that make a house feel like home.

At eighteen, she began working in a Melbourne flower shop, where each morning was filled with the scent of fresh blooms and the changing seasons. By twenty one, she was managing a boutique florist within one of Melbourne’s City Hotels, learning that fragrance could carry memory just as powerfully as beauty.

Years later, after opening her own flower shop that fascination with natural scent became something deeper. Searching for candles made only with ingredients found in nature, Kate discovered that many were made with paraffin wax and synthetic fragrance oils.

So she began making her own.

Today, every Karsten & Co. candle, diffuser and essential oil blend is created using 100% pure plant-distilled essential oils and thoughtfully selected natural materials. Our pillows are handcrafted in house using natural linen and locally sourced Australian lupin, each one made with the same care and attention as every piece that leaves Karsten House.

We believe that beautiful objects should invite stillness rather than demand attention.

Everything is made in Victoria, Australia, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
